Spinning a Yarn and Weaving a Tale - Traditional Storytelling for the house of Thomas Paycocke

How did those cloth-makers make light of their work in the times of Thomas Paycocke?  By telling tales, of course.  They knew that stories are for grown-ups too!   In the run-up to this year's storytelling festival in Coggeshall from October 1-3, some of East Anglia's storytellers will recreate some of those long-ago stories.

Come and spend an autumn afternoon enjoying traditional tales about spinning and weaving and find out how relevant they still are today!

Bring a blanket and a picnic to add to the fun.

Doors open at 3.00 and you will be welcome to explore the gardens and the Woven House exhibition (although the rest of the house will be closed.)

If bad weather is forecast, we will relocate to Grange Barn and notify ticket-holders in advance.

Suggested donation £2 in aid of the National Trust and the fantastic work happening at Paycocke’s. To book your place CLICK HERE

Bring the family (children 8+) enjoy an afternoon where the time slips past as quickly as it did for those cloth-makers long ago.

Paycocke's Covid measures

We are keen to make our event as Covid safe as possible.

- the session will take place outdoors, or in the spacious and well- ventilated Great Barn

- we will make sure parties are sitting in their own space at a safe distance from others (don't forget to bring your own rug and a picnic!)

- the storytellers are asked to take a lateral flow test before the event

Please help us by staying at home if you are unwell, have covid symptoms or have been told to self-isolate. (We will refund your ticket!)
